  1. Have you given any thought to working on TiTiKEi, by Ishikei?

  4. Amazing work Belldandy.
Question. What program are you using and which tools are the most used when you decensore this? Ever though of doing a small tips and tricks or a video on how you proceed with the redrawing? Thanks.

    1. I currently use Photoshop CS6, though any photoshop will be sufficient for most purposes. While decensoring, I usually lasso the area that is censored and use the paintbrush to make the lassoed area a closer color to how it should be. Using the eyedrop tool for a nearby color sample. I usually make a layer and draw any lines that need to be done, to keep it separate from the rest. Decensor the background with the appropriate colors so that things blend and look natural. It might be a good idea to make a copy of the background at the beginning and work off of that if you like having an unedited background to refer to as you work. Once I think I'm done I remove the lasso and blend the edges were the lasso was if needed (it is usually needed) using either the paintbrush tool or smudge tool (usually paintbrush tool). Sometimes the blur tool may be necessary or I may lasso an area I want to smooth out and use Gaussian blur and play with the numbers to get things to blend nicely.

I don't think I used it on this project and it's not necessary but the pen tool is also very good tool to know, granted it's a little counter-intuitive if you are use to the paintbrush tool. If you need to make smooth curved line it's your best friend.

So it's mostly using the paintbrush tool, a little lasso (lasso is optional though), the eyedrop tool for sampling nearby colors, and maybe the smudge tool to smooth things out. That's it in terms of the tools I use for decensoring.

It's not so much as what tools I use as much as how to use the program. Layers for example are essential but not a tool per se. Making a layer for the lines allows me to work on the background underneath the layer without disturbing the lines above it.

A tablet is also important though I decensored for years without one the quality was not as good and I had less control. Anybody interested in really any photoshop work will be grateful once they get the hang of using a tablet. It's instrumental for blending because it has pressure sensitivity.

Another important aspect for this is experience & knowledge in anatomy/art styles. I've done a lot over the years, and I'm at a point where I can mostly visualize how it should look without censoring. That is just a matter of practice and persistence. I'm familiar with pretty much every tool in photoshop even though I may not use all of them it's good to know their functions, in case you come across a situation where it would be useful.

I did make a short video a while back. You can find the post here with a mediafire link with a download for the video.

Granted the example I use is black and white and not color. Color is easier to work with, in my option, and it gets the idea across.

Hope that helps. If you have additional questions let me know

    2. Thank you for the lengthy explanation! I always had trouble fitting the right “shade” on most stuff. That video did a great job showing how to deal with it. Videos like these are amazing for new editors and I really think you should do a few more involving different scenario. Example: a color one and different censor type? I’ll definitely have to give a try on a black bar see through first. Btw do you ever use tools that have the content aware feature? Its super great for background stuff, but probably isn’t useful for drawing small art. Thanks again!

    3. I have thought about making videos of other scenarios but I never have because I did not know if any interest was there. I'll see about making a video for color since my next project [Wata 120 Percent] TastYui 2 (To-Love Ru Darkness) will involve that and you asked for it.

I use the content-aware feature mostly for cleaning up the borders from scans, to minimize cropping, but not for decensoring sections. I find this to sometimes be misleading or miss the mark entirely and it does not come out how it should for decensored sections.

  5. Thanks for the hard work. I was wondering if you were planning on doing the latest Number2 book since I didn't see it on your future projects and from what I've skimmed through I'm not sure if anyone else has asked.

  6. Unofficially, I plan on doing it. It's just I'm not sure when I'll be able to get around to it. I'll probably be a while and I'm trying to keep the future update page limited to what I want to do in the recent future. I want to avoid having projects up there for extended periods of time is all.

  7. Aside from CL-orz, do you have any plan to work some Clesta/etcycle doujins such as CL-ic?

    1. I have no plans to do CL-ic since they are in black and white. I have enough to do just with the colored releases.
